Summer Ranger Limited Term Employee Oneida County is seeking a Summer Ranger to conduct random patrols through County Forest recreational facilities and land holdings for the purpose of insuring conformance to public use regulations. Ranger position will dispense visitor information, collect user fees, record occupancy and use data, and respond to public complaints. Position will perform routine maintenance duties throughout the Oneida County Forest, at various recreation and maintenance facilities, and performance of other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work outside under harsh environmental conditions, possess the ability to work independently, lift moderate weight, walk long distances on uneven ground, communicate effectively with public, and possess above average verbal and written communication skills. Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays. Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License throughout employment, and be experienced with operation of chainsaws, lawn maintenance equipment, small power tools, ATV’s and 4-wheel drive pick-up trucks. Practical work experience and/or technical training in law enforcement and/or security work is preferred but not required. This position is scheduled for 500 hours at $11.89/hour beginning June 1, 2017 to September 10, 2017. Position starting and ending dates may be somewhat flexible.
